Tess - survived brain surgery! July 2025

In July, her owner noticed some unusual changes in her behaviour over the previous few weeks — including episodes where she seemed "vacant," she seemed to have forgotten how to use the cat flap and would sometimes have a little quiver in her legs when standing.

Vet Claire did a thorough neurological assessment and picked up some very subtle deficits which suggested a problem in the left side of her brain, possibilities including things like a brain tumour, infection, or inflammation.

Tess was taken by her devoted 'hooman' to Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists to see their neurologist. She had an MRI scan, which confirmed the presence of two tumours in her left forebrain, typical of a cancer called meningioma. After discussing all the treatment options, her owner made the brave decision to go ahead with brain surgery.

On 9th July, Tess had a procedure to remove the two masses from her brain, which were taken out successfully and the skull closed with a titanium mesh. She recovered well from surgery and, like the little star she is, went home the very next day!

We’re so proud of Tess and her amazing owner for acting quickly and making tough decisions to give her the best chance. We’ll continue to monitor her recovery closely and support her every step of the way.
